Vivensity Awarded Learner Variability Certification

Vivensity’s Teen SEL Certified by Digital Promise, for Transparent Assurance to Edtech Marketplace

March 1, 2022 | Palo Alto, CA – Vivensity has earned the Learner Variability Product Certification from Digital Promise. This Product Certification serves as a rigorous, reliable signal for district and school administrators, educators, and families that Vivensity’s ImSparked© Program for teens is an edtech solution designed to support all students, embracing the natural variability found in each person.

Vivensity submitted evidence to Digital Promise confirming its commitment to designing with learner variability in mind. The imSparked Program from Vivensity provides Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and life skills to adolescents in grades 5-12, with measurable results. It also includes co-learning programs for teachers, school staff, and parents. To effectively address a broad range of learning differences, imSparked is designed to offer a variety of pathways, methods, and contexts for students to build essential SEL skills.

“Every student brings a unique background, set of experiences, interests, strengths, and challenges. At Vivensity, we embrace this variability.

We approach Social Emotional Learning in ways that enable teens to draw on their strengths, identify growth opportunities, and feel supported and successful in school, at home, and in their broader community.

No two of us learn the same way or share a single perspective. imSparked’s whole-child, strength-based approach helps students bring differences to the table in ways that are inclusive, illuminating, and fun!”

– Preeti Shrikhande, Founder & CEO, Vivensity

Vivensity’s ImSparked program has been recognized as a Top-10 Edtech Solution for K-12 (by StartEd, April 2021) and has garnered strong support from students (80% of whom say they want imSparked at their schools, based on a spring 2021 study). This SEL program builds self-awareness, relationship and decision-making skills for middle and high schoolers. It also helps teens find timely solutions to their daily challenges, get energized, and connect with peers, family, and community. Filling a gap in the marketplace for SEL solutions designed specifically for teens, ImSparked is responsive to the unique and diverse strengths, preferences, and needs of adolescents.

Speaking about learner variability on behalf of Digital Promise, Vic Vuchic, Chief Innovation Officer and Executive Director of the Learner Variability Project, says “Educators and families want to know that edtech products support a broad range of learners. The Learner Variability Product Certification celebrates those products that intentionally design for the whole child and allow learners to make adjustments based on their needs. Congratulations to these product companies!”

In February 2020, Digital Promise released the first of its edtech Product Certifications, after nearly a decade of edtech marketplace research. Digital Promise recognized that education leaders want to know, from an independent, third party perspective, whether a product will improve learning. Through Product Certifications, consumers can select products by identifying edtech that is truly committed to learner variability, before trying it out in their classrooms.

The Learner Variability Product Certification uses a competency-based learning framework, developed in consultation with Digital Promise’s Learner Variability Project advisory board, expert researchers, and nearly 50 educators across the United States.

All developers, educators, edtech investors, and families are also encouraged to explore the Research Based Design Product Certification, sign the Research-Based Product Promise, and demand high-quality products that support each learner.
